"The iBra is truly a giant step into the future of comfort
and is a result of what happens when technology
finally understands a woman."

Liz Smith, Director of Retail Services for Wacoal

Welcome to the April/May issue of WECommerce News™.  There is so much news to report I don't know where to begin.  I love the above quote and think it is so appropriate to Women and Technology today.  We are coming of age when it comes to technology and the many ways in which we can use it to enhance our lives.

For instance,
Did you know that... in the first half of 2005, 7.9% of all new products were specifically tailored to women?  This number has more than doubled since 2001 according to Datamonitor's Productscan Online new-product database. And that number will climb to astronomical numbers in the coming years.  Be sure to the read "His and Hers" article about the difference in behavior online between the genders.

WECAI is on the verge of many new benefits. The most exciting is the collaboration between NAFE ( National Association for Female Executives) and WECAI.  We have been given approval to form the first NAFE Virtual Network in the country.  What does this mean?  It means our members will be able to expand your networking reach with 90,000 women (in addition to the almost 900 we currently have).  We are planning a series of networking events to coincide with the launch.  Be sure to read your eMonday News for more information on those events.

We have also become a Media partner with the Women's Global Leadership Forum. They are having their event from September 12-15th, 2006.  Be sure to visit their site and see the exciting lineup of speakers they have from around the globe - this will be truly an event to remember - www.globalwomenleaders.com

In case you haven't done so lately, visit our Benefits at a glance at www.wecai.org/membership_chart.htm. Remember to invite your friends to join and you can earn an upgraded membership. Our Basic Membership will expire on June 30th, so if you have not yet done so, take a look at that option and invite your friends to join.  They will have a year to "test drive" WECAI if they do so before June 30th.

We are looking at making contacts and collaborating with many organizations around the globe.  If you have a benefit to share with our members, be sure to email me and let me know how we can help you promote it. We are always looking for companies and individuals to collaborate with to bring great benefits to our members. Lastly, Be sure to take advantage of our chats, our surveys and all of the other benefits we offer.

As always... I am yours in service,
Heidi Richards, Founder & CEO

Did you know that... Only .03 percent of the Internets estimation 53.4 million bloggers are age 50 and older – this is according to Perseus, a Web survey firm.
Did you also know that... The world's first computer programmers were women? A woman was in charge of the Mars Exploration program? A woman invented the silicon retina? A woman developed the technology that became the foundation for the bullet proof vest?

The "His and Hers" Web from eMarketer Daily - The number of women online is getting closer to the number of men online, but the behavior of the two sexes online is still worlds apart. Men listen to more music on the Net but women are better online communicators.

 E-Tips

Capitalizing on Customer Feedback - According to 1 to 1 magazine, there are 5 ways to maximize feedback. They are:

  1. Combine high and low touch techniques such as surveys, customer advisory councils and experiential marketing events.

  2. Integrate brief surveys into online content, so customers can enter comments during the course of gathering information or making a purchase.

  3. Coordinate efforts among various departments – this will avoid sending too many surveys too often to the same customers.

  4. Share findings among departments

  5. Use a formal feedback process that assigns someone to be accountable for each area to which a suggestion, comment or complaint pertains.  This will help spot trends in customer expectation as well as resolve important issues raised by customers during the feedback process.

WEB-Source - This online tool will automatically reformat your text for you:

One of the common guidelines is that your article must not exceed 60-65 characters across.  By using the format text tool you can be certain your article will be properly formatted, so that it does not get rejected for something that is so simple to fix.

Case Study: How To Get The Most Out Of A Billboard - MarketingSherpa - Learn how Calvin Klein Fragrances scored global press coverage for a one-day event in Times Square. The effort supported the company's CK One fragrance, a 10-year-old brand that needed punching up to appeal to a younger demo. The plan involved placing actual models that appeared in CK One print ads and placing them-live-into an actual billboard display in Times Square for an entire day. The stunt garnered media attention in 15 countries and boosted sales in New York. Read the whole story at http://www.marketingsherpa.com/sample.cfm?contentID=3106
