Heidi Richards is the Founder and CEO of the The WECAI Network™ with a mission to “Help Women do Business on and off the WEB!.” With almost 30 years experience running successful small businesses, she understands the needs and challenges small businesses face, in particular those run by women. She has been studying ecommerce for more than five years and has been running two very successful ecommerce sites, sharing her knowledge of leadership, sales and marketing in three of the four e-zines she writes and publishes for retail florists, nonprofit leaders and a variety of small business enterprises. In January 2005 Heidi was named one of the Top 50 Virtual Women Shaping the Internet for 2005 by the International Virtual Women’s Chamber of Commerce. |
She is also the President (Chief Goddess) of Eden Florist & Gift Baskets in Miramar, Florida – a full-service florist offering flowers, plants, gift baskets and wedding and party décor. With a staff of 11, Heidi is able to be visible and active in the community and believes that it is her job to promote her company both locally, nationally and international. She loves being a florist and especially a business owner in such a culturally rich and diverse community as South Florida.
Heidi is no stranger to running organizations. She has served in leadership roles in dozens of organizations both in Florida and North America. She is the founder of several Florida based organizations. Among then, the South Broward Jaycees, Women’s Network of Plantation, American Business Women’s Association (South Broward, Deerfield and Fort Lauderdale Chapters) and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Broward County. She is past president of the Florida Speakers Association, American Society for Training and Development (Broward Chapter), the Miramar-Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce and the Broward County Florist Association among others. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Carver Ranches and in June was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County.
Heidi Richards, has a very eclectic educational background. With a masters degree in psychology she is the only person in the world to have earned these five professional designations, Certified Laughter Leader, Connected Professional Planner of Meetings, Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified in Training and Human Resource Development and Certified Hospitality Leader and is working on two others. She is the author of eight books including PMS Principles – Powerful Marketing Strategies to Grow Your Business, Romance on a Budget, “Yes,” is only the Beginning, and Career Compass for Women. The concept for WECAI™ was born when she attended a Technology conference and Trade Show hosted by the Broward County School system in 2001. Inspired by the passion of several other attendees and realizing the need for an organization that would be the center for women to learn all they could about ecommerce, Heidi started creating the Master Plan for this resource and membership site. She is a frequent presenter at Conferences in North America, and has spoken in South America, Africa and Europe on topics such as marketing, leadership and human resources.
Heidi has three grown daughters– one of which is her business partner, two grandchildren and a wonderful and loving husband. Her pastimes include surfing (the world wide web), reading, writing, motorcycling, traveling and being involved in FUNdraising events. Heidi is also an award-winning author, entrepreneur and life and business coach. Among her dozens of accolades, she has been recognized by the South Florida Business Journal as Business Woman of the Year, National Top Ten Business Woman of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association, The Sam Edwards Award for Speaking, Women in Business South Florida Advocate of the Year by the SBA and in 2004 was inducted into the Broward County Women’s Hall of Fame. In 1993 the Mayor of Miramar even named a day after her – June 26th is Heidi Richards Day!
