Award Recipient for Corporate IT – Media Relations
Kerting Baldwin is the director of media relations at Memorial Healthcare System, and she oversees all media communications, strategy, social media, corporate communications and crisis communications for the six-hospital healthcare system in south Broward County. Kerting started her career as a journalist, having worked for some of the major papers in Florida, such as The Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel and The Tampa Tribune. She has also worked in the broadcast industry for Telemundo as a video editor. After 10 years as a journalist, Kerting made a career shift to healthcare public relations and began working for the University of Miami School of Medicine. In May 2000, she started working at Memorial Healthcare System as a public relations associate and was quickly promoted to Director of Media Relations.
Kerting is a recognized speaker in the areas of healthcare and emerging technologies, including social media, online content/strategy, and crisis communication.
Kerting holds a Bachelor’s in Communication from Florida International University and a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies from University of Miami. She is currently completing a doctorate degree in education (Ed.D) at St. Thomas University. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the use of social media and other emerging technologies in healthcare.
