Meet our Newest Platinum Member, Melissa Casado, Sales Manager – John Rosselli & Associates
Melissa Casado is educated in the fine arts from Philadelphia College of Art, received an Associate of the Arts degree from International Fine Arts College in Miami, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Florida International University.
With twenty years’ experience and deep footprints in the South Florida building community and interior design field, Melissa has earned respect among clients, industry professionals, and colleagues.
Melissa has worked for private clients in some of the most prestigious buildings in South Florida, including Jade Beach; Porto Vita; Acqualina Ocean Residences & Resort; Continuum; Turnberry Ocean Colony; Las Olas Beach Club; Oceania; and L’Hermitage to name just a few. Additional design work can be found in residences from New York to Las Vegas. Her commercial design experience with Real Estate Developers encompasses seven luxury high-rise condominium lobbies and their respective public spaces, including resort & spa, restaurants, corporate offices, models, and hospitality suites. A highlight of her career has included design for a 145-foot luxury yacht.
From 2005 to 2007 Melissa relocated to the Dominican Republic with her husband of 23 years, Henry, and mother-in-law, Lydia, for whom they pursued better attention in healthcare and lifestyle quality.
With a quest for personal growth, Melissa embraced the culture and learned to speak Spanish, which lead her to International design projects for Ex-Patriots. Additionally, Melissa was a member of the Board of Directors for the International Women’s Club of Santo Domingo, a group of approximately eighty women representing thirty different countries residing within the Dominican Republic. The organization offers social, cultural, and philanthropic exchange and is a non-profit group, which holds numerous fundraisers throughout the year, all benefitting the underprivileged youth of the Dominican Republic. Melissa was a member of the Board of Directors as Fundraising Chairman, where she introduced & implemented a Corporate Sponsorship Advertising Package her first year, generating $25,000USD benefiting local charities for health care and education; and improved upon her Package the second year, generating and additional +10% in donations.
Upon return to the United States, Melissa looked forward to her next business adventure, to try her hand at sales. After two short years working for a to-the-Trade-only showroom at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), she was offered a Showroom Sales Manager position with John Rosselli & Associates, a sixty-year old multi-line company with five locations throughout the country. Melissa was hired to re-build the Florida showroom, which was in jeopardy of closing. With close supervision, re-staffing, re-merchandising, and nurturing, Melissa has grown the business five years consecutively, to a profitable one.
Melissa has added value to John Rosselli & Associates in brand recognition by use of an electric billboard along Interstate I-95, advertising in the DCOTA Newsletter, hosting DCOTA Market events, and by development of her own Instagram page, furthering showroom promotion through e-commerce, for which she has been nominated for a Golden Mouse Award.
When asked, “why sales?” Melissa’s response is, “At this stage of my career I find my experience & knowledge may be of value to others, to my clients, who are Designers and Architects. In many cases I’ve been in their shoes. I often troubleshoot custom orders for them in an industry where mistakes can be very expensive…they appreciate that.”
Melissa received the 2017 Golden Mouse Sales & Branding Leader of the Year Award.
