Women in Ecommerce™ Sites of the Month for October are Joan King of Cellular Wisdom and Lydia Harris of The Entrepreneur’s Garden

Each of these women are on a Mission to Change the World!

About Joan King:  Joan’s background includes years of spiritual studies in the Dominican Convent, followed by years of extensive scientific research in a medical school environment. Neither experience alone fulfilled Joan’s yearning, until she integrated the two in the concept of “cellular wisdom” explored in her books. Cellular Wisdom provides the foundation for Joan’s coaching, coach training and mentor coaching, as well as her speaking and writing.

Experiencing the loss of her father at the age of ten resulted in a life-long quest for the unseen substance underlying life. Joan entered a Dominican convent to study philosophy and theology for eleven years, but found that the rules and culture progressively restricted her propensity to think beyond the dogma and that “the religious answers weren’t enough.”

She left the convent and entered graduate school to study science more deeply as a way to examine the substance of life and human behavior and “what makes people tick.”

A Professor at Tufts University Schools of Medicine in Boston for twenty years, Joan served as Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology for the Schools of Medicine. She envisioned and created a Multimedia Resource Center on the Boston campus and also developed and directed the Center of Research in Reproduction at Tufts University from 1992-1997. Joan has now been engaged in scientific studies for nearly half a century.

Professional and personal coach, consultant, and workshop leader with twenty-five years as an educator, scientist, and administrator in universities and academic-based organizations, Dr. King is credentialed by the International Coach Federation.

Whether you’re young or old, corporate or unemployed, male or female, professional speaker Dr. Joan C. King will be an inspiration to you. Her belief that each of us contains an inner wisdom that can inform all of our life decisions is applicable to human beings across class, cultural, and economic lines. About Lydia Harris: Lydia is the mother of two sons,  Benjamin a high school sophomore, and Nicholas (a college sophomore).  All born in Detroit, Michigan, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2005.    A Registered Nurse for over 30 years, Lydia has specialized in pediatrics, adolescent mental health, and medical case management, with almost ten years in an independent practice as an entrepreneur.   As a family, many activities have focused around those that help kids with character building through constructive use of their leisure time including The Boy Scouts of America (Lydia served as Cubmaster of Pack 335), fishing, museum touring, and various camping programs.

UControlIt was founded by Lydia Harris and her youngest son, Benjamin Marsh as his wireless, remote controlled security and home automation business, in 2007. The tools used for his business allow owners of the system to be in control of their environment and personal/home/business safety needs.

Started as a means for Ben to earn money to fund special purchases, UControlIt as his business, became the topic of local inquiry. As a result of this venture, “How U Gonna Pay for Those Shoes?”, A Business Plan for Teens was written and became self-published in August 2008.

The expansion to additional entrepreneur guides, is adding a new dimension. In keeping with the theme, UControlIt has expanded to carry a message of empowerment with a variety of online services/products to assist the global community of entrepreneurs in reaching their personal/professional goals.  From this teen entrepreneur concept has grown The Entrepreneurs’ Garden, Inc. a resource for new business owners.
