This week’s Tuesday Tutorial is about adding Google Adsense to your website to add money to your bank account.

After much discussion (mostly with myself) I have come to the conclusion that one of the best ways to monetize Women in Ecommerce™ and all my other websites for that matter is to add Google Adsense to my sites.

In fact, up until now the only two sites I have had Adsense are WE Magazine for Women and one of my “Blogger” blogs. Which by the way have not produced any large sums of income using this “free” advertising source so, I have pretty much ignored it, that is until now.  I was going over all the ways to make money online for a client of mine and she asked me about Adsense. Having little experience (and not paying attention to the potential) I had pretty much ignored adding these to my blog.

But the truth is many people use Google Adsense with great results. One of my colleagues has a personal development blog and he has been making a nice income with his ads. Most of which has to do with all the traffic he has coming to his site. His site is ranked under 200K on Alexa Globally and in the 40K range in the US. Lots of Traffic! And since this is a “numbers game” you have to have lots of traffic if you expect a certain % to click on the ad.

Here’s how you make money:

Google.com earns much of its revenue by allowing other website owners to advertise on their search result pages, via AdWords. When someone sees an ad served by Google on your site that they are interested in learning more about they simply click on it and you make money!  It all integrates with Google Adwords that they are selling.

Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text ads on your site.  In other words, you’re helping Google advertise and they pay you a percentage of what they earn for doing so. This gives their ads much more visibility when millions of websites are “advertising for them.”

The first thing you will need is a Google Account. Go to https://www.google.com/adsense/ and sign up. Once approved they will send you information to create your Ads.
